Unleashed in Snowdonia – the greatest surfers on the planet.

It’s an unlikely setting for a surfing spectacular. Sitting Approximately 7 miles in from the coastline, nestled amongst the grey slate hills and mountains of Snowdonia, Surf Snowdonia is about to welcome the most creative surfers from all over the world to it’s Red Bull Unleashed event.

Red Bull have spotted what we all knew quite some time ago, that Wales is the perfect setting for everything outdoors lovers relish.
Last week they hosted the phenomenal Hardline mountain bike event, this week they put on a surf show that has the sports masses absolutely buzzing.

It’s full credit to the crew at Surf Snowdonia too. Some scoffed at the idea of a placing the worlds first Wave Garden Lagoon in the harsh North Wales countryside, but boy have they made it work. And what a spectacle it is.

This fantastic piece of engineering and construction creates a powerful two-metre wave that rises at the centre of the lagoon, peels perfectly for more than 150 metres, and dissipates softly as it hits the shore. Creating perfect surf conditions, wave after beautiful curling wave.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that this event will just see a few decent surfers take to the waves. Red Bull have lined up a remarkable international 24-man field and will showcase top talents from freesurfing and competition alike. The lineup will include Albee Layer and Ezekial Lau (HAW), Jack Freestone and Mikey Wright (AUS), Dillon Perillo and Kainoa Igarashi (USA) and Brendon Gibbens (ZAF).

Even the judging panel is exciting. An esteemed crew of former pro legends including Pipemaster Jake Paterson, former XXL winner Brad Gerlach and European charger Alain Riou will determine who walks away with the first ever Red Bull Unleashed title.
