Walk, Scramble, Climb with Snowdonia Walking & Climbing

Snowdonia Walking and Climbing is run by Richard ‘Rusty’ Bale, a fully qualified Mountaineering Instructor (WMCI), qualified to instruct all aspects of mountaineering and a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI).

He started mountaineering in Scotland with the RAF Mountain Rescue Service over 20 years ago and since then he has walked and climbed throughout the UK and abroad.
“I have been a RAF Mountain Rescue Team Leader and was the Service’s Chief Instructor for 5 years. My mountaineering has taken me all over the World including the Alps, Norway, Canada as well as the greater ranges of the Himalaya and Andes. In 2001 I was selected as a member of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service Everest North Ridge expedition and successfully reached the summit on the 22 May.”

Closer to home he loves climbing around North Wales and the rest of the UK and have also completed the ‘Munros’…all the Scottish mountains above 3000 feet.

As Snowdonia Walking & Climbing Rusty is provider of the Mountain Training  Mountain Leader Award, Hill and Mountain Skills and Lowland Leader Award schemes. Helping to give the next generation of instructors the skills they require to run a safe, reliable business of their own.

“I provide guided days out in the mountains as well as courses in rock climbing, scrambling, mountain skills, navigation.  The courses I run can be tailor made to suit your individual needs.”

Crib Goch

One of the highlights of North Wales for walkers and scramblers is the stunning Crib Goch.
An utter classic and perhaps one of the finest ridges in Britain. This brilliant grade 1 scramble should be on every scramblers list. Never too difficult, although it does require a steady head for heights as it has some breathtaking exposure. Our guided days have small ratios of instructor to participant so if you’re nervous you’ll be well looked after.

This is one of our more popular itineraries. Also done as part of the longer Snowdon Horseshoe, taking in Lliwedd as well.

Guiding can be arranged as a bespoke day out on a date of your choosing or check out our group days. You’ll be with a fully qualified and highly experienced Mountaineering Instructor.

Winter traverse also available when conditions allow.
