Ddraig’s Big Day Out – North Wales Mega 2016

There are some fantastic events planned for the week building up to Geocaching’s North Wales Mega 2016. On Friday 5th August, there will be activities for everyone at Chirk Boathouse on the banks of the Llangollen Canal. With plenty of caches old and new nearby, there will be a chance to visit Chirk Castle; or just chill on the grass, meet other cachers and share stories.
Extremenorthwales.com are also excited for the opportunity to take part in some gorge walking, abseiling, canoeing and bushcraft all provided by the experienced and qualified instructors at TnR Coaching.
TnR are an activities and training provider based in Llangollen. The company is co-owned by Tom Robinson and Richard Witheridge, who between them have over 35 years of teaching and coaching experience.

The North Wales Mega Committee have teamed up with TnR Coaching to bring you some fun activities for their Mega Week Side Event, “Ddraig’s Big Day Out” on Friday 5th August. These are training sessions that can be pre-ordered at a discounted rate to enjoy on the day.
The activities are; Gorge Walking (half day session) Climbing and Abseiling (half day) Bushcraft (2 hour session) and Canoeing (2 hours).
We have already signed up for the climbing and abseiling, which will start off with some bouldering to get warmed up and feeling the rocks. It’s great fun as it’s all about balance and getting to grips with rock climbing, but all at a safe low level, and with masses of tuition from TnR Coaching’s lovely instructors.
From there, we will be taking on a variety of climbs and learning the important art of belaying. (You are roped up, so there is no risk of a fall.) And to finish? Its the grand finale – a 100ft abseil overlooking the Dee Valley and Castle Dinas Bran!
